How to install and run Ostinato for EVE-NG

Standard package

To install (one-time only) -

  1. scp ostinatostd-<VERSION>.tgz to /tmp on the the EVE-NG server
  2. ssh to the EVE-NG server and install it (as root) -
cd /tmp
tar zxvf ostinatostd-<VERSION>.tgz
cd ostinatostd-<VERSION>
./install.sh

Make sure the install script finishes with Successfully installed Ostinato (standard).

To use the Ostinato (standard) node in a EVE-NG lab -

  1. Add a Ostinato (standard) node (not the Ostinato node) to the lab. Selecting Ostinato (standard) node
  2. Start the Ostinato node
  3. Double-click the node to open the Ostinato GUI in your VNC client

Basic package

If you have not already done so, login to the EVE-NG VM (or bare install), download and install the EVE provided ostinato-drone image -

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install eve-ng-addons-ostinato-drone

To add and run Ostinato in a EVE lab -

  1. In your EVE-NG lab, add a Ostinato node with 2 or more interfaces
  2. Connect the first interface to pnet0 for management
  3. Start the Ostinato node
  4. Login to the Ostinato node and get the IP address assigned by DHCP to the first interface which is connected to pnet0
  5. In the Ostinato GUI on your host, select File | Add PortGroup and enter the above IP address
